The Infinix Zero 5 makes the thing go Skrrrrrr! And you know the rest..

The Zero 5 has taken the smartphone world by storm. The release of their 2017 flagship phone couldn’t have come at a better time. Unveiled on the 14th of November, in Dubai, it is perhaps the best Christmas/New year present from Infinix to fans.

With ground breaking features, the dual camera notably is the highlight of the phone. Expect some sleek and professional photos you’ve never seen in any Infinix devicebefore.

In a magnificent style, the phone comes in two variants: there’s the Zero 5 6GB RAM &  Zero 5 Pro 64 GB Internal storage and the 6GB RAM & 128GB internal storage. However, the second variant will cost a bit more.

NOTE: The only difference between these two is the internal storage, and nothing else.

Okay, I wouldn’t be wrong to say the Infinix Note 4 came short of consumers expectation. But the Zero 5 is here as a respite to the Note 4 short comings.

Features X Design

Yes, take up my word in its weight in Gold. This is the best looking Infinix smartphone, dethroning the Hot S from its spot.  The curved edges, sleek back, strategic camera positioning and speakers shows Infinix craftsmanship at the peak.

But enough of the long talk:

Straight out of the box, the Infinix Zero 5 has a polished metal unibody, with metal rims running through the curved edges. The back protrudes a little, giving it a curvy shape. This makes it comfortable in hands, whilst it allows the hands to have a firm grip of the phone.

The Zero 5 comes with new changes in Infinix conventional button layout. The obvious change is the transition from capacitive buttons below the screen to a fledged on-screen buttons. I must say, this is one of the best features as it allows users to quickly switch between different apps.

Speaking of the screen, it combines a 5.98 screen plus 1920*1080 resolution. The result is a quality display of vibrant colors and exciting media consumption. Equipped with a Corning Gorilla screen, you’ll enjoy effortless touch responsiveness and anti-scratch resistance.

In all fronts, the Zero 5 is total upgrade on previous models.  The design definitely pass the test, onto the next:

I will say this:

As a matter of fact, this is the selling point of the phone. This is the first time Infinix is using a dual camera feature on their smartphone.

If you don’t know the meaning of dual camera, try reading this comprehensive definition of what a dual camera really is.

It includes a unique 16MP front shooter and a 4 in 1 selfie camera with a single Flash.  The dual camera is a marvel, at 12MP the rear camera can shoot pictures with professional quality.

With that said, the camera also has ample features like: Background blur, Panorama and HDR will give picture enthusiasts something to make their pictures look even better.

In terms of camera quality, the Zero 5 is far away from other Infinix devices, leaving the Note 4 trailing behind.

Performance X Software

The heart of the phone is powered by a robust Helio P25. With a staggering 2.6GHz CPU speed, every function of the phone is optimized for quick action.

The processor lets you have a smooth experience without lagging or glitch. In addition, the Zero 5 utilizes a 6GB RAM, whether you are running a HD game or multi-tasking, you’ll enjoy seamless speed and find responsiveness a breeze.

Talking about the software, it runs the Android 7.0 Nougat, which has a lot of features you’d like. Impressively, it features the new Infinix Customized OS  (XOS 3.0) the new XOS is designed with an anti-theft mechanism, split screen functions, and smart interactive features for optimum user experience.

Just like the Hot 5, the fingerprint is embedded in the back. Strategically placed for your fingers to unlock,  it unlocks in a fraction of second.

In all fairness, we’d expected more from the battery storage, say 5000mAh would have been perfect. Nevertheless, it comes with a decent 4350mAh battery which can pull through the day on average use.

Quick charging is definitely a feature we’d like to see on this smartphone when it hits smartphone retail stores.

Update: We’ve just confirmed the Zero 5 to comes with a quick charging feature. So get ready for X2 times charge in fewer minutes than ever before.

The Infinix 5 is yet to be released in Nigerian stores. I guess, you’ll have to be patient for a few days before it hits smartphone retail stores.

The price is expected to be within the figure of N110,000 – N150,000. That’s quite expensive, if you ask me. But for a phone of this caliber, the phone will pay for itself.
