Huawei’s Y7 Pro 2019 which is a successor to last year’s Huawei Y7 Pro 2018 is here and is packing a lot of features while still being a budget device. It sports a slightly bigger display thanks to the 19:9 aspect ratio with a notch. The battery department as well as the SoC department also go a bump up to 4,000mAh and Snapdragon 450 respectively. Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 Design And Display

The design of the Huawei Y7 Pro is pretty standard. The 6.2-inch 720p IPS LCD screen takes up 80% of the front, leaving just enough room at the top for the small U-shaped notch which houses the front-facing camera. There is also a significant amount of chin down below on which the Huawei logo is written.

The Logo is also written at the back of the device. No fingerprint sensor here and the only form of biometric authentication/verification is the Face Unlock via the front facing camera. Dual cameras take up the top left corner of the device’s back with an LED flash underneath. The  device weighs just 168 grams, measures 8.1mm in thickness and comes in two colours; Aurora Green and Black.

Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 Camera Review

Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 has a total of 3 cameras; two at the back and one up front in the small notch. The rear camera is made up of a 13MP main shooter with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF alongside s secondary 2MP depth sensor camera. Both cameras are equipped with HDR and Panorama as well as an LED flash for low light photography. 1080p video recording is possible but only at 30fps. The 16MP front facing camera which is equipped with HDR is capable of recording 1080p@30fps.

Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 Hardware and Software

Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 uses Qualcomm’s best Snapdragon 400 series SoC which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 based on the 14nm FinFET process technology. The SoC has eight cores clocked at 1.8GHz alongside an Adreno 506 GPU. For smooth multitasking, there is a 3GB RAM on board with 32GB Internal storage which can be expanded via the second SIM slot which doubles as a microSD card slot, up to 512GB. As expected, this device runs Huawei’s EMUI 8.2 out of the box which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo Operating System.

Battery & Network Connectivity

A pretty decent 4,000mAh battery keeps this device juiced up. It also supports fast charging of up to 10W for quick refills. Other features of the Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 includes the norm; 4G LTE, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, microUSB port and depending on the market, NFC.

Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 Price and Availability

Huawei Y7 Pro has a starting price of $170 which is approximately N55,000 to N60,000. Currently, it is only available in Vietnam where it was launched and there is no word yet on if (and when) it will make it to other markets.
