Google Chrome Is Dropping Support For About 32 Million Android Devices

Google Chrome is undoubtedly one of the best browsers for Android devices at the moment. It is no wonder it has a lot of users addicted to it. Google even made it easy to reach by having it pre-installed in many Android devices. In fact, Google Chrome has over 1 billion downloads on Android.

However, reports currently circulating show that quite a large number of Android users will soon lose access to this browser. Google Chrome is reportedly dropping support for devices running on Android Jelly Bean (4.1 – 4.3). According to the latest Android distribution figures, this version of Android still makes up about 3.2% of Android devices. With approximately 1 billion phones and tablets running Google’s open source mobile operating system, this is approximately 32 million devices to be affected.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was released to the public on July 10, 2012, and a number of newer versions have been released since then. Now, in 2018, we already have Android Pie, so it is not much of a surprise that the support for Jelly Bean is getting dropped.

Over the years, Google has been coming up with lots of improvements to its apps. The company has also been introducing new features in these apps. For example, Google has been adding a Dark Theme into apps such as the Android Phone app, the Android Messages app, YouTube, and the Google Feed. The latest update of Google News will also come with a Dark Mode.
